I gained my MA and BA (Hons) from the Courtauld Institute of Art and am currently working towards a PhD at UCL. Prior to joining the National Portrait Gallery in 2009 I worked for Bonhams Auctioneers in the British and European watercolours and drawings department and at Sotheby’s in the British paintings department.
Areas of interest / research
My PhD subject looks at the Printsellers’ Association and the fine art print trade circa 1847-1912. I am interested in the printed reproduction and its role in the dissemination of an image in the second half of the nineteenth century. Although I work mainly with prints, I also maintain an active interest in the early British watercolour.

I have recently written a book review for Print Quarterly (forthcoming) on ‘The Art-journal and Fine Art Publishing in Victorian England’, 1850-1880 by Katherine Haskins.
