19th century women artists, profession and practice, especially Louise Jopling (1843-1933), genre and portrait painter.
Exhibition culture and the London art market 1850-1914.
Current projects include a book, digitisation and exhibition project on Jopling and her circle, a technical art history study of Whistler’s watercolours and Whistler exhibition projects in the UK and the USA.
