Curatorial Assistant at York Art Gallery, 1995-2001.
Curator (Fine Art) at Birmingham Museum & Art Gallery since 2001. I currently have responsibility for the collections of paintings, sculpture and works on paper pre-1900.

Areas of interest / research

I have an interest in 19th-century portraits, with a particular specialism in works on paper and in the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood, their associates and followers.
I am currently working on the late-Victorian artist Edward Robert Hughes RWS (1851-1914) and am planning an exhibition and publication to mark his centenary in 2014.
