Portraiture can be used to explore themes. For example a theme based on clothes and costume can be the basis for practical costume making workshops for adults, fashion photoshoots for young people and family activities.<\/p>\n

The National Curriculum for England and Wales is shifting to being more theme based and cross curricular. For example a theme around portraits of scientific figures could look at the scientific concepts they introduced, their historical and social legacy and the representation of them in visual media.<\/p>\n
