We are excited to announce that the Understanding British Portraits network will be producing its very own Podcast! Aimed at the museum/gallery/heritage sector and wider listenership in the UK, the Podcast series is intended to support debate and enquiry around portrait interpretation, display, curation, research and audience engagement, reflecting current museological concerns and adding fresh voices and perspectives to the conversations taking place.

We are now looking to engage four Podcast hosts to curate and produce up to two episodes each. This freelance opportunity would suit museum/heritage colleagues, academics, activists, researchers and students who want to use the podcast platform to explore a theme, thesis, narrative or research journey. You don’t need to have experience in podcasting; we’ll provide the logistics and technical expertise, but we welcome great ideas in search of a platform.

We are also recruiting an audio engineer to support the development and delivery of the series.

The deadline for the host and engineer roles is 12 noon on Monday 3 July 2023 and we will invite shortlisted applicants for an informal online interview in early August. For further details and guidelines on how to apply, please refer to the following job descriptions:
